Startup Brilliant Labs has unveiled new smartglasses called Frame.

These are open-source glasses with artificial intelligence that can search the internet for suitable trainers, assess the nutritional value of products, translate text, find directions, etc. To do this, Brilliant Labs has developed the Noa app with a virtual assistant that uses OpenAI for visual analysis, Whisper for translation and Perplexity for web search. According to the developers, Noa's AI learns and adapts to both the user and the tasks they are given.

The glasses understand voice commands and can work with third-party apps, as Noa has daily query limits.

The glasses also feature a 1280×720 pixel camera, a microphone and a colour microOLED screen that projects an image right in front of the user's eyes. The picture is only displayed in a 20-degree field of view, which is not enough for mixed or augmented reality glasses.

The built-in battery has a 222mAh capacity and is powered by the Mister Power charger, which is designed in the shape of a human nose.

The Brilliant Labs Frame glasses are priced at $349 and are already available for pre-orders. Sales will start on April 15.
