Apple recognized the iPhone 6 as a "vintage" product

Apple has categorized the iPhone 6, one of its most popular smartphones, as a "vintage" product.

Details

According to Apple's definition, a gadget becomes "vintage" if it has not been on sale for more than 5 but less than 7 years. The company still provides parts and repair services for such products. If the device has not been sold for more than 7 years, it becomes permanently obsolete and is no longer supported by the manufacturer.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were introduced in September 2014 with iOS 8. They were discontinued in 2019 with the release of iOS 13, which requires iPhone 6s and newer models. Despite this, Apple is still releasing security patches for devices running iOS 12, including not only the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but also the iPhone 5s.

What's interesting is that the iPhone 6 Plus became a "vintage" smartphone earlier than iPhone 6. This is due to the fact that iPhone 6 was on sale longer in some regions.
