Apple Watch Series 8 learned to measure body temperature and detect accidents. Price - from $400

Apple started today's new product launch with wearable devices, so meet the Apple Watch Series 8 smartwatch.

What's New?

Visually, the new model looks pretty much the same as the Series 7: same big display, same curved edges. But the biggest changes are inside. And the most important of these is the body temperature sensor. It reads your wrist temperature every five seconds throughout the night, detecting deviations from your baseline temperature and alerting the user through the Health app. This sensor is mainly focused on women's health: it helps identify ovulation and assess cycle deviations.

The watch also features standard heart rate and ECG sensors, a new 3-axis gyroscope and a high acceleration accelerometer. The latter helped Apple implement another new feature of the Watch Series 8: crash detection. When there are sudden shocks and falls, the Apple Watch Series 8 detects it and offers to call emergency services. More specifically, if the threat is false - you need to manually cancel the call, otherwise the watch will contact the services and relay your location.

Another innovation concerns battery life. In normal use, it's still the same 18 hours, but now a power saving mode has been added, which increases this time to 36 hours. Low Power Mode will appear in watchOS 9, so it will also be available on older watch models - Series 4 and newer.

Here's What It Costs

The Apple Watch Series 8 will be sold in several versions: the model with GPS costs $399, with LTE - $499. Pre-orders are open today, with sales starting September 16.
