FCC to completely ban the sale of Huawei and ZTE telecommunications equipment in the U.S.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States plans to tighten sanctions against Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE.

Here's What We Know

The regulator intends to completely ban the sale of any telecommunications equipment from Huawei and ZTE, along with video surveillance systems of three other companies from China. Like the previous sanctions, the new restrictions are introduced in order to ensure the national security of the United States.

The draft order was submitted in early October by Jessica Rosenworcel, the head of the FCC. A vote is expected to take place soon. The new ban will be the first precedent when the American regulator completely prohibits the sale of equipment in connection with a threat to the national security of the country.

With regard to the above-mentioned manufacturers of video surveillance systems, it is about companies Hikvision, Hytera Communications Corporation and Dahua Technology Company. The ban will be applied to new equipment. The companies will be able to sell devices that have already been approved by U.S. regulators.
