Xiaomi has surged tablet sales with its Pad 6 series, despite a significant drop in the overall market

The tablet market is not going through the best of times. All leading manufacturers faced a drop in sales last quarter. The only exception was Xiaomi.

Here's What We Know

Apple continues to lead the tablet market, despite the fact that in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, shipments fell by 16.8%. The Cupertino-based company took 37% of the market, selling 10.5 million devices.

Samsung retains second place with a 20.6 per cent share. Compared to the base period, shipments fell by 18.3% to 5.8 million units. Lenovo rounds out the top three, controlling 7.6 per cent of the tablet market, but sales are down nearly 40 per cent.

Xiaomi is among the top five manufacturers. Thanks to the Xiaomi Pad 6 series tablets, the Chinese company took 3.6 per cent of the market. Shipments increased by 41.6% and reached 1 million units. But this was not enough to overtake Huawei, which has a share of 5.9%.

All other manufacturers totalled 7.2 million tablets, down 49.7% from a year earlier. According to IDC, the entire market is down 29.9 per cent. Due to this decline, Apple, Samsung and Huawei were able to increase their shares despite the drop in sales.
