Gourmet: Apple has completed the development of the initial version of iOS 16 - everything is ready for the presentation of iPhone 14

In a new Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple has already completed development of the initial version of iOS 16.

When to expect?

This probably means that Apple has almost no major new features or changes planned for the remaining betas of iOS 16, and instead developers will focus on fixing bugs in the final weeks before the public release of the software update.

iOS 16 and watchOS 9 are expected to be released in September along with the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models. And iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura will follow in October.

"The iOS 16.0 update, which Apple engineers finished working on last week, should be released in September along with watchOS 9. These updates will be consistent with the new hardware. On the other hand, macOS Ventura and iPadOS updates are now scheduled for October (after delays related to Stage Manager for iPad software) to match the new line of hardware," Gurman notes.

Among the major innovations in iOS 16 are a customizable lock screen with widgets, the ability to temporarily edit or cancel iMessage sends, a battery percentage icon in the status bar on most iPhones with a notch, and more.

According to leaks, the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 will be unveiled on September 7, although Apple has not yet officially confirmed the date. Gurman thinks Apple will probably hold another event in October about the new Macs and iPads, including updated iPad Pro models with the M2 chip.
