Realme C67 review

Android smartphone with a large IPS display and IP54 protection

By: Alex Chub | 01.02.2024, 09:00

The realme smartphone brand was mainly focused on the youth audience and produced mostly mid-range and budget smartphones. Later, more expensive smartphones close to the flagships began to appear, but still, affordable models remain the main feature of the manufacturer. Today, a new representative of the affordable line, the realme C67 smartphone, has arrived for review at gg . Let's see what it can do and how interesting it is.

realme C67 is an interesting modern affordable Android smartphone. It has everything you need to satisfy the most demanding user. The smartphone has a large IPS screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, nice colour reproduction and high brightness, and a Qualcomm processor, which is not very productive, but sufficient for the vast majority of tasks. realme C67 has a good (considering the price category) main rear camera with an effective 3-digital zoom, stereo sound support and a convenient, very close to pure Android realme UI. The smartphone has a good battery life and supports 33W fast charging. There are also nice bonuses in the form of a MicroSD card slot and a standard headphone jack. The case is IP54-rated for dust and splash protection. Considering the price, it's hard to find critical flaws. But I would like to have at least an ultra-wide-angle camera in addition to the main one.

realme C67 looks very interesting in its price category and there are few really strong competitors. One of the close competitors is Redmi 12. It's a little cheaper, but loses out to the realme C67 in many ways: a weaker processor, lower screen brightness, a simpler main camera, slower charging, and IP53 protection (vs. IP54 for the model in the review). Redmi Note 13 has a similar processor, main camera module, battery, charging speed and protection. It also has an ultra-wide-angle camera and an AMOLED display. But its price is higher. And Moto G54 Power Edition : it has a slightly more powerful processor, a 120Hz screen, a more interesting set of cameras, and a larger battery. But it also costs more.

5 reasons to buy realme C67:

  • good (considering the price) Snapdragon 685 processor;
  • long battery life and fast charging;
  • high-quality main rear camera with effective 3x digital zoom;
  • large IPS display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz;
  • microSD slot and standard headphone jack.

2 reasons not to buy the realme C67:

  • no ultra-wide-angle or telephoto camera;
  • you need a more productive smartphone.

What does the realme C67 come with?

The package realme C67 is quite familiar to the brand. The box is bright yellow in colour. Inside you'll find a smartphone, a 33W SuperVOOC charger, a Type-Ccable, a transparent silicone bumper, a protective film (right on the screen), a tray tool and documentation.

What does the realme C67 look like?

Realme C67 review

realme C67 is a typical representative of modern, inexpensive Android smartphones with a large display, so the front panel is nothing special. The bezels around the perimeter of the screen are quite thin, especially considering the use of IPS-display. The protective glass is flat, the front camera is in a standard round hole. Above is the earpiece speaker.

The back cover looks quite original. It has a pleasant diagonal texture, the colour is light green, which shimmers with bright yellow at certain angles. For those who prefer a more restrained style, there is a black version. The lid is plastic, but it doesn't feel too thin and hardly bends.

The rear camera module protrudes significantly above the body. It's oval in shape, with both cameras with a golden decorative frame and an LED flash under a common protective glass. Of course, I wish the camera didn't stick out so much, but overall it looks quite original.

The frame is flat and made of silver plastic. The volume and power buttons are located in the usual place. Their height is convenient enough for both right and left hands. On the opposite side, there is a tray on the left side.

It provides space for two SIMcards and a MicroSDcard. This is a fairly common practice for low-cost models.

On the top edge of the smartphone there is an additional earpiece speaker for stereo sound. At the bottom are the main speaker, microphone, Type-C and a standard headphone jack. It is also already available only in affordable smartphone models.

The smartphone has IP54protection, so it is not afraid of water splashes, but it will not withstand immersion. realme C67 has quite typical dimensions and weight for a modern smartphone: 164.6x75.4x7.6 mm, 185 g. It is quite comfortable to use, the body is not too slippery.

How good is the screen of the realme C67?

Realme C67 review

realme C67 has a 6.72-inch IPS screen. Theresolution is 2400x1080 (aspect ratio 20:9), the pixel density is about 392 ppi. The manufacturer promises a peak brightness of 950 cd/m². The maximum refresh rate is 90 Hz, and two modes are available. 60 Hz and automatic 60-90 Hz. Other settings include: brightness, dark and light themes, interface and text scale, the so-called "Night Screen" (warmer shades) and two colour display modes with colour temperature settings: bright with extended colour gamut and normal with sRGB:

The screen has a very high brightness margin, but the minimum level is a little higher than we would like and blacks turn out greyish, which is especially noticeable when used in dark environments. The colours are quite natural and saturated, and viewing angles are maximum. Measurements have shown that the maximum brightness in "Bright" mode is 576.053 cd/m2, the black field brightness is 0.582 cd/m², and the static contrast is 990:1The colour gamut is indeed a little wider than sRGB, but the colour reproduction is a little inclined to cold shades, the colour temperature is about 8500K with a reference value of 6500K. But in the settings, you can adjust the colour temperature.

In sRGB mode, the colour gamut does not quite match the declared sRGB. But all other indicators are close to the Bright mode, including the colour temperature. the maximum brightness is slightly lower: 471.004 cd/m2. Other indicators are close to the Bright mode. The maximum brightness is 576.053 cd/m2, the black field brightness is 0.582 cd/m², and the static contrast is 990:1.

What are the ways to unlock realme C67?

Realme C67 review

You can use the fingerprint scanner and face recognition to unlock realme C67. The fingerprint scanner is located in the power button, which is logical given the IPS screen. The scanner works very quickly and accurately, there were no problems or errors during use. Face recognition works quickly in sufficient light, although it is worth remembering that this method is not very secure. Additional options include recognition only with open eyes. There is no function to increase the screen brightness.

Performance, sound, and battery life of the realme C67

The realme C67 is powered by a rather modest octa-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 685. It is manufactured using a 6-nanometre process, includes four ARM Cortex-A73 cores of 2.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores of 1.9 GHz. The graphics accelerator is Adreno 610.  The RAM is 8 GB, expandable up to 12 GB via a storage device. The built-in storage is 256 GB, which is rather slow. Judging by the tests, the read and write speeds are slightly below 300 MB/s. There is a slot for MicroSD memory cards. Considering the class of the smartphone, the performance is at a quite appropriate level. The power is enough for the normal operation of any applications and fast operation of the interface.

Realme C67 performance tests

The results in performance tests are quite modest, which is quite expected. There are no significantly more powerful models in this price range:

Stability of the realme C67

In the Throttling Test, the processor drops performance by up to 81% in 15 minutes of maximum load. The performance is close to the maximum for about the first 6 minutes, then there is a decline. At the same time, the case remains barely warm.

Realme C67 performance in games

The smartphone is quite suitable for modern games, but the graphics settings should be reduced to a minimum. Diablo Immortal and Genshin Impact run at a relatively stable 30 FPS frame rate, although sometimes there are noticeable freezes. Call of Duty Mobile performs better, with 60 FPS possible.

realme C67 wireless and sound

Realme C67 review

realme C67 features dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC for contactless payment. realme notes that NFC works 360˚, meaning at any angle. However, in my experience, no smartphone has ever had problems with NFC when applied at an angle. Global positioning systems are supported: GPS, A-GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS and Beidou. The smartphone is able to reproduce stereo sound through the main and earpiece speakers. The volume margin is very good, but you should not expect deep bass or very high quality sound.

Realme C67 battery test

realme C67 is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery . It supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging and takes about an hour and a half to fully charge. The smartphone lasts on average about a day on a single charge with fairly active use (calls, email, instant messengers, browser, YouTube, camera and benchmarks). With more moderate use, you can get a day and a half.

How user-friendly is the realme C67 interface?

realme C67 runs on the latest Android 14 OS with the proprietary realme UI shell. The interface is very close to pure Android and has mostly cosmetic additions from realme, so everything works and is organised in a familiar way, you won't have to get used to it. There are standard desktops, a separate menu with all applications (you can disable it), widgets, gesture or button navigation, and many possibilities for customising the appearance.

The application manager has a standard look and functionality. The usual horizontal carousel of cards with the ability to close everything or switch to two-window mode:

There are some additional gestures for more convenient use of the smartphone. Automatic screen activation after lifting, three-finger screenshot, one-handed control mode.

Among the additional features is the so-called Mini Capsule 2.0. In fact, it is a small interactive window in the front camera area that displays notifications, weather information, or music player controls. By clicking on it, you can go to the corresponding notification or application. We have already seen something similar in Apple smartphones.

There is a standard set of basic useful applications such as a voice recorder, music player, calculator and phone manager.

When we reviewed the realme C67 in gg , it was not for our region, with some not very relevant pre-installed applications and additional marketplaces. It is possible that commercial samples will not have all this.

How do the realme C67 cameras take pictures?

The realme C67 has a dual camera at the back, although only one of them is really useful. It has a resolution of 108 megapixels and optics with f/1.8 aperture. It has phase detection autofocus, but no optical stabilisation. The second module is a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The maximum video resolution is FullHD@30fps. The front camera has a resolution of 8 MP, f/2.1.

Realme C67 review

The camera application is not much different from previous Samsung models, so we have the usual carousel of modes that can be edited. All the main settings are available on the viewfinder screen, including flash, zoom, timer, resolution (as we have already mentioned above), aspect ratio, video settings, filters, etc.

Examples of realme C67 camera photos

Considering the price category of the smartphone, we can say that the main camera takes very good pictures. In daylight, the photos are clear with fairly good colour reproduction. The night mode also works well, but the detail drops a bit and the autofocus sometimes does not work perfectly.

The company claims that with the help of a digital 3x zoom on the main camera of the realme C67, you can get good pictures. And this is quite true in good light. At night, it's harder and the autofocus starts to falter a bit:

The 5x digital zoom is a similar situation, but at night it becomes difficult to get a clear photo:

Example of realme C67 video shooting

The realme C67 smartphone can shoot video in FullHD resolution and 30 FPS. It has electronic stabilisation. But, unfortunately, it doesn't do its job very well, the video quality is mediocre:
