Redmi 9C and Redmi 9C NFC budget smartphones will not be updated to MIUI 13, although Xiaomi has promised

Although Xiaomi is already actively updating its devices to MIUI 14, some smartphones still haven't received MIUI 13. And they won't anymore.

Details

The budget Redmi 9C and Redmi 9C NFC smartphones were launched with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. They have since received one Android update and one MIUI update. In other words, the models are currently running MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. Although in some regions, users haven't even received MIUI 12.5 yet - for example, in Turkey and India (for the local Poco C3 clone).

Xiaomi has promised to release MIUI 13 for these models, but so far no update. XiaomiUI resource writes that owners of Redmi 9C and Redmi 9C NFC should not wait for the update: internal MIUI tests have long been stopped, and the "hardware" is not at the level to run the new MIUI interface.

The reason lies in the budget Helio G35 processor. It has cores that focus on efficiency, but are not designed for high-performance operations. Therefore, smartphones will not be able to get the MIUI 13 update due to insufficient hardware level.
