SpaceX launched Cargo Dragon 2 into orbit - the 30th launch of a Falcon 9 rocket in 2022

The U.S. company SpaceX performed its 30th launch of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle in 2022.

What we know

The rocket is launched from the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 20:44 local time. It launched the Cargo Dragon 2 spacecraft into orbit. Docking with the International Space Station is scheduled for Saturday, July 16.

Cargo Dragon 2 will deliver instrumentation that will be used to monitor sandstorms on Earth. Soil microorganisms are also sent to the station - the researchers want to find out how they behave in zero gravity.

In addition, there are five CubeSats on board of Cargo Dragon 2 NASA and equipment to study the aging processes of the immune system. The total weight of the cargo is about 3 tons.
