The Orion spacecraft, which is on its way home as part of the Artemis I lunar mission, has taken a GoPro photo of Earth's natural satellite.

Here's What We Know

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a new batch of photos. They were taken during the rendezvous with the moon, when the craft flew 128 km from the satellite's surface.

More than a week ago, Orion photographed the moon from a distance of about 130 kilometers, but the images were not of high quality because they were made with a navigation camera. This time, the spacecraft used a GoPro Hero 4 Black action camera.

Naturally, the camera was significantly modified before being sent into space, but it is not specified how exactly. Specialists mounted it on top of one of the ship's solar panels. Judging by the quality of the photos, NASA got it right.
