For All Humanity - NASA releases official lunar mission images of Artemis II for smartphones and computers

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is offering everyone to download the official Artemis II lunar mission wallpaper for smartphones and PCs.

Here's What We Know

The Federal Space Agency has published several official posters of the upcoming mission, which will take place in late 2024. You can download the images from the official NASA website.

Artemis II is the second mission in the Artemis lunar programme and the first to have humans aboard the Orion spacecraft. The names of the four astronauts (three from the USA and one from Canada) were announced a few days ago.

The second mission will be a continuation of the program after Orion circled the moon and returned to Earth in late 2022. During the return was damaged thermal insulation, but experts believe NASA, that this will not affect the timing of Artemis II.

Orion will be sent into space on a Space Launch System (SLS) Block 1 rocket. NASA recently published a photo of the rocket's first stage. Specialists will move on to install the upgraded RS-25 engines.

The first landing on the Moon since 1972 will take place as part of the Artemis III mission. It is scheduled for the end of 2025. The Orion craft will carry a crew to orbit the moon, and from there the astronauts will travel to the satellite in the SpaceX Starship, which is preparing for its first test flight. Until 2033, NASA plans to make 10 missions under the Artemis programme.
