Baby Come Back: Rocket Lab was able to soft-land the first stage of the Electron rocket for the first time, getting one step closer to reuse

Rocket Lab has moved closer to beginning to reuse the first stages of the Electron rocket. The other day, the company was able to soft-land the booster for the first time.

Here's What We Know

Rocket Lab used the Electron rocket to launch seven satellites into orbit. The company had to postpone the launch several times due to unsuitable weather conditions for the launch.

The mission was interestingly named Baby Come Back because it involved returning the first stage to Earth. It successfully made a soft landing using a parachute system 17 minutes after liftoff.

The Electron rocket's first stage descended into the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Rocket Lab intends to study it as part of a plan to shape a new approach that involves reusable first stages.

The company once tried to catch the booster using a helicopter, but neither experiment was successful. Rocket Lab has therefore decided to use parachutes to gently return the first stages to Earth.
