Spotify buys startup Kinzen to fight inappropriate podcasts with AI

Spotify continues to fight against unwanted podcasts on the site. Artificial intelligence will now help.

Here's What We Know

The streaming service began fighting hard against inappropriate content after a scandalous podcast by Joe Roghan. At the end of 2021, he invited a virologist to visit him and spread misinformation about COVID-19.

Spotify has decided to acquire the startup Kinzen, with which the collaboration began in 2020. The Irish company will help using artificial intelligence algorithms to find and eliminate unwanted content on the streaming service. Initially, the algorithm was focused on working with materials related to elections in different countries. The cost of the deal has not been advertised.

Kinzen's solution combines human expertise with machine learning and can identify potentially dangerous podcasts in different languages. The Irish company's algorithm will work across multiple markets, helping Spotify moderate content faster.
