Companies Roll-Royce, MDBA UK, Leonard UK and BAE Systems are engaged in the development of a twin-engine stealth fighter Tempest. The project is managed by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.

What we know

It is planned that the supersonic stealth fighter with a triangular wing will enter service with the United Kingdom Air Force in 2035. It will replace the Eurofighter Typhoon. The aircraft of the new generation will have support for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Until 2025, the UK government will invest in the project £2,000,000,000.

Currently, the team's efforts are focused on creating a demonstration sample of Tempest. The fighter of the new generation will become the basis of the air defense of the Kingdom, and will allow to preserve technological solutions. The demonstration sample is supposed to appear within five years.

The development of Tempest is carried out in Lancashire. There, Great Britain will conduct an assessment and the first tests of the aircraft. As for weapons, the fighter will have hypersonic missiles, laser weapons and a drone swarm control system.
