Japan unveils world's first facial recognition device to measure temperature in the mouth

A company in Tokyo, Japan, has developed a device to measure a person's temperature in an unusual way without contact.

Here's How It Works

It is a small device with a screen that measures the temperature in the mouth. The company says that such measurements are more accurate, because the readings of devices that measure the temperature of the body surface (forehead, wrist) are influenced by external factors. And the inside of the mouth will show a more accurate temperature.

In order to measure the temperature in the mouth, the device uses facial recognition technology: a person must simply walk up to the camera and open his mouth, after which the screen will display the result.

The developers plan to use such a device in medical institutions, schools and nursing homes.
