Turkey continues testing unmanned aerial vehicle Bayraktar AKINCI, equipped with a Ukrainian AI-450S twin-rotor engine.

What is known

Impact drone with ammunition KGK SIHA-82 developed by the company TÜBITAK SAGE, moved out of the Chorlu region towards the Black Sea. The drone successfully destroyed a mock enemy surface target off the coast of Sinop. According to the manufacturer, the unmanned aerial vehicle hit a target at a distance of 30 km with high accuracy using a 340 kg ammunition.

This is not the first test. Bayraktar AKINCI. Earlier, an assault drone with a Ukrainian engine on board set a new personal altitude record. In mid-March of this year, he managed to climb 41,170 feet (about 12.25 km).

Presentation Bayraktar AKINCI took place in 2018. At the end of the summer of 2019, it became known that Ukraine would manufacture AI-450S engines for the drone. The first UAV prototype was shown in September of the same year, and ground tests began in November.

First demonstration flight Bayraktar AKINCI TIHA Completed December 6, 2019. As part of this test, the company tested the operation of all systems, including Ukrainian engines. First contract Baykar Makina signed for the supply of assault UAVs in 2021.

Recall Bayraktar AKINCI TIHA has a maximum takeoff weight of 6000 kg and can stay in the air for 24 hours. The wingspan is 20 m, and the height and length of the drone is 4.1 m 12.2 m, respectively. It can lift a load weighing 1350 kg.

Armament Bayraktar AKINCI may include air-to-air missiles with a range of up to 100 km, MAM-C, MAM-L, K-UTMAS, Bozok, cruise missiles SOM with a range of up to 275 km, as well as Mark 84 / Mk83 / Mk82 / Mk81 / NEB-84 / SARB-83 bombs.
