Ukrainian military showed the British Stormer HVM with Starstreak missiles at the front for the first time

This week, the British Minister of Defense announced that Ukraine has already received a shipment of Stormer HVM air defense systems. The military showed the British air defense system on the front for the first time.

The pictures show one surface-to-air missile system inside and outside. Our Armed Forces received a total of six units with several hundred missiles Starstreak for them.

Stormer HVM: what about this anti-aircraft missile system?

Stormer HVM is a British-made self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system, based on an armored vehicle developed by Alvis Vickers F4333 Stormer. The first vehicles entered service with the UK Army in the late 1990s.

The armored vehicle is equipped with 250 horsepower diesel engine Perkins T6 3544. It allows accelerating up to 80 km/h. Cruising range reaches 600 km. Crew of the anti-aircraft missile system consists of three people.

On the roof of Stormer HVM there is a rotary launcher for eight missiles Starstreak. Twelve more missiles hold an aft compartment in the hull. Next to the launcher is a panoramic sight with a thermal imaging channel. There is also an air threat warning system on the roof.

Stormer HVM can detect planes and helicopters at distances of 18 km and 8 km respectively. The missile is launched in less than 5 seconds after the target is acquired. The speed of the missile Starstreak is 1 km/sec. We should also note that the anti-aircraft system does not emit anything since it has no radar station.
