The export version of the T-90 is called the T-90S. Their appearance in Ukraine may indicate that the Russian army has a shortage of tanks. And apparently, disassembling old armored vehicles doesn't help anyway.

The T-90C is equipped with a new turret with an improved fire control system. The tank also has an upgraded cannon and remote-controlled machine gun, while the automatic gearshift is designed to improve the vehicle's controllability.

Another difference between the T-90S and the regular T-90S was the introduction of explosive reactive armor units. But to install them, the Shtora-1 infrared projectors for protection against anti-tank guided missiles and guided artillery ammunition had to be abandoned.

The first delivery of tanks took place in 2001. Then Russia sent 40 combat vehicles to India. A year later, Moscow exported 84 more tanks there.
