Ukrainian experts have developed a $130,000 demining drone based on a tractor and tank equipment

The Ukrainian Defence Forces, together with scientists from Kharkiv, have developed a drone used for mine clearance. The drone is being tested on fields in Kharkiv region.

Here's What We Know

The drone is built on the basis of a tracked tractor and equipped with tank equipment. The first test of the vehicle was in the village of Novaya Husarovka. The settlement had been occupied by Russian troops for more than six months.

The unmanned tractor managed to collect 33 anti-personnel mines in a few days of operation. It took a month and a half to develop it. The tractor is equipped with a trawl that is mounted on tanks. The weight of one roller is 350 kg. A remote control is used to control the equipment. This allows not to endanger the lives of sappers.

Ivan Sokol, Director of the Regional Department of Civil Defense, stated that the Ukrainian-made drone is more effective and cheaper than its foreign counterparts. It is able to destroy 99% of anti-personnel mines and will cost about $ 130,000, while the imported vehicle will cost $ 1.3 million.
