The chances that Ukraine will receive ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles remain slim, but they are there. Such a conclusion can be drawn from the statement of US President Joe Biden, who managed to talk to journalists before flying from Washington to Delaware.
Here's What We Know
Asked about the regular shelling of Kyiv, Biden said that this did not come as a surprise. In this regard, the USA will seek to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with all the necessary tools.
As for the possibility of sending ATAMCS, the US president said the missiles are "still in play". The White House has previously refused to transfer tactical ballistic missiles to Ukraine, citing reluctance to lead to escalation.
ATAMCS (Army TACtical Missile System) is a solid-propellant ground-to-ground missile for the M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS systems. It exists in several modifications with a maximum launch range of about 300 km.
