Germany transfers 66 BATT UMG armoured off-road vehicles to Ukraine

Last week, Germany announced that it was going to send 66 armoured vehicles to Ukraine. We assumed it was about Fuchs 1 APCs, but it was not.

Here's What We Know

According to the German publication BILD, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive BATT UMG armoured off-road vehicles produced under licence by the German company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau GmbH (FFG). Germany decided to transfer these vehicles because of their cost-effectiveness. Incidentally, the AFU already has an unknown number of these vehicles in service.

Flashback

The BATT UMG is an American armored vehicle. The vehicle is built on a commercial platform that has been modified to meet TAG standards. It uses a Ford chassis. The vehicle has military level surveillance and communication systems. The BATT UMG could be used as military transport vehicle, command and control centre, VIP transport and armored ambulance.
