Spain will strengthen NATO's eastern flank with 14 Eurofighter Typhoon and EF-18M Hornet fighters

Spain said it would send 14 fighter jets to strengthen NATO's eastern flank amid Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

The planes and soldiers will be sent to two Alliance countries: Romania and Bulgaria. Eight EF-18M Hornet fighters of the Spanish Air Force will be deployed in Romania. Along with them 130 soldiers will go.

In addition, long-range air surveillance radar has been working on the territory of Romania for almost a week already. It will operate until the end of June 2023, while the planes and soldiers of the Spanish Air Force will return home in March 2023.

From mid-November to early December, Spain will redeploy 130 soldiers and six Eurofighter Typhoon fighters to Bulgaria. They will train the Bulgarian defense forces for several weeks.
