China unveiled an upgraded version of the VT4 tank - it has improved protection, increased firepower and can launch kamikaze drones

At the AirShow China 2022, the Chinese company Norinco unveiled the upgraded VT4 tank. It was named VT4A1.

Here's What We Know

The original fighting vehicle was presented in 2012 at the Eurosatory exhibition. The upgraded tank features increased firepower and improved protection. At the same time the company left the general layout unchanged. The power pack is mounted at the rear of the tank with the driver's seat at the front.

The VT4A1 is equipped with ammunition launchers for bomblet launching. In addition, there are fragmentation launchers on top. They can fire at 360 degrees.

Norinco changed the design of the turret slightly, as it did away with the smoke grenade launchers and installed a radar detection system instead. The tank's turret received reactive armor for increased protection against air attack. In addition, additional armor plates are located on the sides of the fighting vehicle, providing increased protection of the suspension.
