Here's What We Know
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2023 states that the United States Department of Defense intends to purchase 700 new M142 HIMARS high-mobility artillery systems. Of course, not with empty containers.
It is planned to buy 1,700 ATACMS operational-tactical ballistic missiles, which have a launch range of about 300 km, to complement the HIMARS. The US will also purchase 106,000 220 mm GMLRS precision-guided rockets for the M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS missile systems.
