Lithuania will spend up to €150 million to purchase new generation CAESAR howitzers

In mid-December it became known about Lithuania's plans to purchase French CAESAR Mk II howitzers. Now there is information about when the deliveries will start and how much Lithuania will pay.

Here's What We Know

Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of Defense of Lithuania, officially confirmed that Vilnius is joining the CAESAR Mk II program. As previously announced, Lithuania will receive 18 Nexter self-propelled artillery pieces.

The cost of the contract will be €110-150 million ($117.5-160 million). Deliveries of new generation self-propelled artillery systems are scheduled for 2027. Earlier France and Belgium ordered CAESAR Mk II howitzers.

An improved version of the CAESAR will be equipped with a 155-mm gun with a 52-caliber barrel. Its maximum range is 40 km. The howitzer will be based on the ARQUUS wheeled chassis with 460 horsepower engine.
