Turkey has successfully tested the Siper surface-to-air missile system with a range of over 100 km

Turkish defense companies Roketsan and Aselsan, as well as the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey, have tested the Siper surface-to-air missile system.

Here's What We Know

The tests took place in Turkey late last year. Their completion was announced by Ismail Demir, head of the country's Defense Industry Directorate.

Siper is one of the three anti-aircraft missile systems of the HISAR family. Earlier it was called HISAR-U. It is planned to be put into service by the end of this year. The cost of the development program is more than $1 billion.

The HISAR family also includes HISAR-A and HISAR-O surface-to-air missile systems. They can engage targets up to 10 / 20 km in altitude and up to 15 / 25 km in range, respectively. The Siper has a range of over 100 km.
