Artificial intelligence will play a major role in future military conflicts. Chinese experts are already working on an invincible neural network that will control aircraft.

Here's What We Know

Scientists at China's Aerodynamics Research and Development Centre of the People's Liberation Army Research Institute recently conducted an aerial drone battle. The battle involved two drones. One was controlled by artificial intelligence and the other by an experienced pilot via radio communication.

The on-board computer of the first UAV is based on the NVIDIA Jetson TX2 platform, which appeared back in 2017. At the time, China was not under sanctions from the United States, so it was not difficult to obtain such a platform.

The Chinese scientists were not able to enjoy the battle to the fullest, as it had to be interrupted a minute and a half after it started. The reason was the total domination of the drone with artificial intelligence as the operator.

The combat pilot tried to manoeuvre, use subterfuge and demonstrate all his skills. But it didn't work. The neural network easily predicted all the actions of an experienced pilot and each time it found itself in a better position.
