China drives US destroyer USS Milius away from its shores - Pentagon denies

The situation in the South China Sea continues to be tense. The Chinese People's Liberation Army recently claimed that it had succeeded in chasing away the USS Milius.

Here's What We Know

The Chinese military claims that a US Navy destroyer has illegally entered the area of the South China Sea. As a consequence, the Chinese People's Liberation Army fleet was able to push it away from the Paracel Islands.

The US warship USS Milius allegedly entered Chinese territorial waters on 23 March 2023. The US Department of Defence has already responded to the Chinese military's claims. Pentagon officials claim that the US Navy destroyer is conducting routine operations in the South China Sea.

Moreover, US forces will continue to fly, swim and perform other activities wherever they are not prohibited by international law. This is the statement issued by the 7th Fleet Command of the US Navy.
