Raytheon receives $1.225bn to produce Patriot PAC-3+ surface-to-air missiles for Switzerland

The US company Raytheon has begun production of the Patriot PAC-3+ surface-to-air missile system for the Swiss army. Deliveries will take almost 10 years.

Here's What We Know

The US Department of Defense website has officially announced that Raytheon has been awarded $1.225bn. Work on the contract will take place at facilities in the US, Germany and Switzerland. Deliveries will last until 31 December 2032.

The Swiss Defence Procurement Agency announced a tender for a new air defence system in early autumn 2018. In addition to Raytheon with the Patriot PAC-3+, Eurosam, the manufacturer of the SAMP/T air defence system, participated in the tender. Raytheon won the tender in late autumn 2020.
