Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time showed German howitzers Panzerhaubitze 2000 in combat conditions

On June 21, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov announced that Ukraine had received the first 155-mm Panzerhaubitze 2000. A week later, Ukrainian defenders published the first pictures and videos of the artillery systems in combat conditions.

What we know

The Panzerhaubitze 2000 is among the most modern self-propelled artillery systems in the world. One of them was camouflaged in the bushes by servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There is no footage of combat use of the self-propelled guns yet.

A few days ago, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk informed that the country plans to purchase 100 artillery mounts. The proposal from the German side has already been received, but it is needed to wait for permission from the government.

The Panzerhaubitze 2000 was adopted for service in Germany in 1998. The howitzer has a 155-mm L52 gun. Ammunition consists of 60 rounds. Maximum firing range is 67 km (active-reactive projectile). Also the armament of the artillery unit includes 7.62 mm MG3 machine guns.
