Russians accidentally financed the purchase of a DJI Mini 2 for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukrainian servicemen raised money to buy a DJI Mini 2 quadcopter in separatist Telegram channels.
What we know
The soldiers, who are currently fighting against the occupiers in the Kherson region, got a DJI drone thanks to concerned citizens of Russia. Actually, the Russians thought they were helping to buy a drone for their army.
Ukrainian special services hacked several separatist Telegram channels and posted an ad to raise funds for a DJI Mini 2 drone. Fake Russian Tinkoff bank cards were added to make it more credible. Funds were raised through the Yumani (formerly Yandex.Money) and QIWI payment systems. Both are banned in Ukraine, but they can be used if desired.
As a result, residents of Russia transferred funds that were eventually spent on the purchase of DJI Mini 2. The Russians transferred money without much enthusiasm, so Ukrainians had to add from their own pockets.
