Portal with RTX remaster announced, the game will support ray tracing and DLSS 3.0 technology. The version will be free for owners of the original Portal

At the presentation of NVIDIA GTC, a remaster of Portal - Portal with RTX was announced. The game will support ray tracing, as well as DLSS 3.0 technology. The update will be free for all owners of the original version of the game.

Here's What We Know

According to the company, Portal with RTX demonstrates the incredible power of the new GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards. Every frame of gameplay is enhanced with full ray tracing, new hand-crafted high-resolution physics-based textures, and new and improved high-poly models. Performance is accelerated with NVIDIA DLSS 3.0, allowing the game to run smoothly, and latency is minimised with NVIDIA Reflex. And all of this was created in conjunction with NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios.

In order to understand the difference, here are some comparison shots:

This version already has a page on Steam and will be free for everyone who purchased the original Portal 2007. Another interesting thing is that the system requirements do not specify that the version supports only RTX 40 graphics cards. Any video card that supports DirectX or Vulkan ray tracing will do.

Flashback

Portal is a first-person puzzle game set in the mysterious laboratories of Aperture. The game was made to make the player change their approach by manipulating and choosing how to act in a given environment. Players must solve physical puzzles and get out of difficult situations by opening portals to move objects and themselves in space.

When We Can Expect It

Portal with RTX version as soon as possible after the release of the first Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards, which are scheduled for release on October 12.
