NVIDIA announced two versions of GeForce RTX 4080 with 12/16 GB GDDR6X memory and up to 9728 CUDA cores starting fom $899

NVIDIA announced two variants of GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card following the GeForce RTX 4090. The second novelty is available in two variants, which differ in frequency, number of stream processors, memory capacity and price.

Here's What We Know

GeForce RTX 4080 is equipped with Ada Lovelace chip, which is made on 4nm TSMC N4 technology. The main features of the new architecture are the third generation of ray tracing cores and the fourth generation of tensor cores.

The graphics adapter has different chips - with 9728 and 7680 CUDA cores. The maximum frequency is 2.51 GHz and 2.61 GHz, respectively. The base frequency is 2.21 GHz in both cases.

The card is equipped with 12GB or 16GB of internal GDDR6X video memory with an effective frequency of 22.5 GHz. The memory is connected to the video chip via a 192-bit or 256-bit bus, and the maximum throughput is 504 GB/s and 720 GB/s respectively. The power consumption of the graphics card is 320W. According to the manufacturer, the GeForce RTX 4080 outperforms the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti by 2-4 times.

Price & When We Can Expect It

Both graphics cards will go on sale in November 2022. The GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB will cost $899. The GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB - $1199. The appearance of the 12 GB memory version may mean that we won't be seeing the GeForce RTX 4070 anytime soon.
