Alienware AW2527HX: 560Hz QD-OLED takes on esports' TN dominance
Alienware has announced the AW2527HX, a 24.5-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor capable of hitting 560Hz at 1080p — the highest refresh rate the company has ever shipped. Unveiled at IFA 2026, it targets competitive esports players who currently rely on fast-but-flat TN panels, promising OLED's deep blacks and color without sacrificing raw speed. The catch: it won't reach shelves until Q1 2027, and pricing hasn't been confirmed.
The panel
The AW2527HX runs Samsung Display's fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED, which Alienware pairs with a matte AGLR anti-glare coating. Peak brightness hits 1,500 nits, and the screen carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification — meaning inky blacks and a wide dynamic range that can make enemies more visible in shadowed corners. Response time is rated at 0.03ms gray-to-gray.
Connectivity is handled by DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR13.5, delivering full bandwidth at 560Hz without Display Stream Compression. That's worth flagging: many RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 setups default to DisplayPort 1.4, so older mid-range GPUs won't get the full experience. G-Sync certification is on board for NVIDIA users.
Burn-in anxiety remains the biggest obstacle to OLED adoption in esports, and Alienware addresses it with graphite heat dispersion, an AI pixel-level algorithm, pixel shift, and pixel refresh. A three-year burn-in warranty backs all of it — the same coverage Dell offers across its premium OLED lines.
The competition
At 560Hz, the AW2527HX sits above the Asus ROG Swift PG248QP (540Hz TN), but it already faces pressure from higher up. The ASUS ROG Swift Tandem OLED runs at 720Hz, and Acer has pushed Full HD to 1,000Hz with its Predator line. The AW2527HX was co-designed with Team Liquid professionals, per Alienware Official, which lends it credibility on the esports circuit — though whether pros will swap proven TN setups for OLED is still an open question.
Pricing remains unannounced. Based on comparable 500Hz-class OLED monitors, expect something in the $700–$900 range, as PC Gamer notes Alienware is actively trying to push OLED pricing to more accessible tiers. The AW2527HX is slated for early Q1 2027; exact US and UK retail details will follow closer to launch.
