The AFU shot down a rare Russian Orion attack drone

On November 15, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to destroy a rare Russian Orion strike drone, also known as the Inokhodets.

Here's What We Know

The unmanned aerial vehicle was developed by the Kronshtadt company. It made its first flight in 2016. In total, Russia has released about 30 drones. This year, the Orion was to undergo an upgrade that would add support for satellite communications.

The drone has a wingspan of 16.3 meters, a length of 8 meters and a height of 3.2 meters. The UAV has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,000 kg, including a payload of 250 kg. The drone can move at an altitude of up to 7.5 km and has a cruising speed of 120 km/h.

Orion drones are practically not used in Ukraine. Russian propaganda channels aired several stories about the drone in the spring. Around the same time, one such UAV was destroyed in the Kherson region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
