Amazon will have a separate app for watching sports events. It will relieve Prime Video a bit.

Here's What We Know

Amazon is the broadcaster of English Premier League games and New York Yankees baseball games. The company also got exclusive rights to show NFL games on Thursdays. It pays about $1 billion annually for them.

The creation of a new sports content app will provide an opportunity to clean up Prime Video. So far, however, there are no details on that. It's also unknown whether Amazon will charge a separate fee for access to the games.

The company declined to comment on this information. But Amazon CEO Andy Jassy previously said that sports content for the digital commerce giant is one of the priority areas. The company will continue to spend money on it, even if it has to cut spending in other areas.
