New Google Chrome update is the first one you can't install on Windows 7

If you're still using Chrome on older Windows 7 hardware, you have another reason to upgrade - you won't be getting Chrome updates anymore.

Here's What We Know

As previously planned, Google has stopped supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 with updates for the Chrome browser after Microsoft stopped releasing security updates for these OS versions.

Chrome 110, which is no longer available on older operating systems, fixes some security issues and includes several new features, such as customising network error pages and allowing biometric authentication on computers that have this feature to automatically fill in stored passwords. The release of Chrome 110 also marked the beginning of a new Chrome cycle, in which an early stable release of future updates will be released a week before the stable release.

As we wrote above, Chrome 110 is the first version of the browser that requires a minimum of Windows 10 or later to work, so if you're still thinking about whether to upgrade to Windows 10 or 11, this will be another strong argument for you. Windows 7 was a great operating system in its day, known for its beautiful design and stability, but time has passed and it is now outdated both in appearance and functionality.
