Microsoft starts testing new volume mixer in Windows 11

Windows 11 is coming with an updated volume mixer that allows you to individually control audio input and output directly from the taskbar. The updated mixer was introduced in the preview build 25309, which is now rolling out to Windows Insider Dev members.

If the feature does make it to the stable version of the system, the mixer will be located in the Windows Quick Settings panel, which can be accessed by clicking on the speaker icon, or by pressing Win + Ctrl + V to open the mixer directly. The updated mixer will allow you to conveniently switch between audio output sources (for example, laptop speaker and headphones), adjust the volume of individual applications, and switch between spatial audio technologies such as Windows Sonic or Sony Dolby Atmos.

In fact, this isn't the first time we've Microsoft adds a new volume mixer to Windows 11, almost like EarTrumpet - last month, it was mentioned in the experimental features section. At the time, it was generally reminiscent of the familiar Ear Trumpet utility.
