Bloomberg: Apple will likely drop the release of the Mac Mini with the M3 chip in favour of an upgrade with the M4

Apple last updated Mac mini computers in January 2023 with its proprietary M2 and M2 Pro processors. However, a generation with M3 chips will likely never be released.

Here's What We Know

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicts that the next Mac mini models will debut in either late 2024 or early 2025. And since there's not much time left, it's safe to say that the Mac Mini will skip the upgrade to the M3.

Instead, we should expect Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chips. These processors should provide a significant performance improvement over the existing "M2" series models. Rumour has it that the M4 chips will have a faster Neural Engine for artificial intelligence tasks.

By the way, this situation for Apple is not new. For example, iMac completely abandoned the M2 chip and waited for a bigger performance boost with the M3 chip late last year.
