Mercedes-Benz has officially announced the launch of a family of electric vans and minivans based on the new Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) platform. The first production vehicles in this series will be unveiled in 2026, but in the meantime, the German premium car manufacturer has revealed a mysterious teaser with the silhouette of an elongated minivan.

Here's What We Know

The teaser image shows a concept car that sets the styling of future Mercedes-Benz electric models on the VAN.EA platform. The world premiere of this concept is scheduled for spring 2025.

The new VAN.EA platform will come in two varieties:

  • VAN.EA-P: luxury family vans, VIP shuttles and spacious limousines for demanding private customers
  • VAN.EA-C: commercial vans oriented towards business customers.

Models on the first version of the platform will have a range of "more than 500 kilometres" (311 miles) and support SAE Level 2 automated driving technologies. Level 3 will be realised by the end of the decade. The second version of the architecture, for which the range is not specified, will have support for Level 4 autonomy by 2030.

In addition to Europe, Mercedes-Benz wants to sell models based on the VAN.EA platform in the US. In addition to vans of various sizes, large campers should be available in America.
