Star Wars fan recreates Rey's jump around Tie Whisper without a Hollywood budget (video)
A Star Wars fan from Norway decided to recreate one of the most stunning moments of The Rise of Skywalker, in which Rey makes an incredible jump around the Tie Whisper, slices the ship in two and lands flawlessly. In his YouTube work, he demonstrates how to achieve a cinematic result without having access to a Hollywood budget and technology. If you're too lazy to watch the whole video, skip to the end at 09:27.
Challenges on the way to the stunt
- The absence of a desert: The Norwegian climate is not very similar to the one in the film. The author replaced the desert with picturesque mountains, turning them from a problem into a feature.
- A 20-foot jump: Without any special ropes, the fan used a digital double - a 3D model created using special software.
- Epic landscape: The scene was shot during a snowfall, which gave it a unique atmosphere.
Technological approach.
To create the effects, we used:
- A real lightsaber: instead of a kitchen utensil, which the author previously used to replace in post-production.
- A 3D model of the Kylo Ren ship: found on the Internet and improved for greater realism.
- 3D tracking software: to recreate the ship's trajectory and add special effects such as explosions, snow and smoke.
- The author also used the services of Artlist.io, which provided sound effects and music to make the final result as realistic as possible.
The final
The result looks like a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster, demonstrating that with the help of creativity, technology, and many hours of work, you can recreate even the most difficult moments from your favourite films. This project is yet another example of how fans are finding new ways to express their love for iconic franchises.
