OnePlus may become the first brand to introduce a foldable Android smartphone with the new flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite processor to the global market in 2025.

Here's What We Know

According to the latest leaks, the device will also receive one of the most desirable features - increased strength due to the use of titanium.

The well-known Smart insider Pikachu claims that the device, called OnePlus Open 2, will be thinner than its predecessor and will be the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world at launch. It is expected to make its debut in February 2025, and thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the smartphone can remain unrivalled in its category for six months.

The OnePlus Open 2 could also feature a battery of almost 6000 mAh, a triple camera setup with Hasselblad optics, including a periscopic zoom lens, and wireless charging support. If these specifications are confirmed, it will be a significant improvement over the previous generation.

Titanium construction elements are rumoured to resemble premium models such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, the use of titanium in the OnePlus Open 2 is likely to be aimed at increasing durability rather than creating a "premium look".

The previous model, the OnePlus Open, which costs $1299.99, already has titanium reinforcement in the folding mechanism. So it remains to be seen whether OnePlus will focus on the next-generation titanium frame, but the leaks promise improved durability and innovative design.
