Shuhei Yoshida explained that remasters and remakes are necessary to support new PlayStation games

PlayStation fans often express dissatisfaction with the decrease in the number of new games and the increase in remasters and remakes. However, former PlayStation CEO Shuhei Yoshida believes that these projects are necessary to support the team working on original titles.
Here's What We Know
In his interview with Kinda Funny Games, Yoshida commented on the criticism of PlayStation, in particular, the large number of remasters. "I was joking about PlayStation co-CEO Hermen Hulst getting criticism for the number of remasters," he said. "Those who complain may think that Hermen is doing this instead of creating something new. But I'm sure these remasters are made by separate teams."
Yoshida emphasised that the production of PC remasters and ports is "much cheaper" and generates additional revenue, which allows them to invest in new projects. "As the costs of story-based games are rising, it's necessary to generate additional revenue from remasters and ports," he explained.
He also urged fans to support these projects: "If you enjoy great story-driven games from major studios, you should support Hermen in his efforts for ports and remasters so he can continue to invest in great new games."
