Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida said that Sony's first game was a space shooter developed for a joint project with Nintendo. According to him, the game was almost completed but never saw the light of day due to the cancellation of the project.

Here's What We Know

In 1993, when Yoshida joined Sony, he was shown a prototype of the Nintendo PlayStation and a nearly finished game for the system. He described it as a space shooter, similar to the Silpheed game for the Sega CD, where most of the resources were loaded from the CD. Yoshida could not recall the developer of the game, suggesting that it could have been created in either the US or Japan.

The Nintendo PlayStation project was a joint initiative between Sony and Nintendo in the early 1990s, which involved the creation of a CD-ROM drive for the Super Nintendo. After the partnership with Nintendo ended, Sony decided to continue working on its own console, which led to the original PlayStation in 1994.
