Discord, a popular platform known for its text, voice, and video chats, is considering going public in 2025. The company has already held talks with investment bankers, and this could be an important step in its development.

Here's What We Know

According to the Financial Times, Discord is in preliminary discussions about an initial public offering (IPO). The company's last valuation in 2021 was $15 billion. Although Discord representatives declined to comment on the rumours, the company stated: "We are focused on providing the best experience for our users and building a sustainable business."

The IPO will allow Discord to raise additional capital to expand services, improve infrastructure and strengthen its market position.

Founded in 2015, Discord started as a platform for gamers. Over time, it has grown into a universal communication tool used by more than 200 million monthly active users.

The company operates on a "freemium" model, where the base is free, but money is earned from the Nitro subscription, which offers advanced features.

Discord continues to expand its presence on various platforms. In 2024, the service became available for PlayStation and Xbox, allowing players to communicate and interact regardless of the device.

If the IPO goes through, it will be the company's first major step towards the public market.
