Škoda Octavia vRS ready for police fleets

Škoda has unveiled the updated Octavia vRS, which will become part of the UK police fleet. It is the most powerful production version of the Octavia in the brand's history, adapted for extreme service conditions.
What's changed?
- The 2.0 TSI engine now produces 265bhp and 370Nm of torque
- Power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG gearbox and an electrohydraulic VAQ differential
- Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds (6.5 seconds for the station wagon)
- Ground clearance is 15mm lower compared to the standard Octavia,
- Dynamic Chassis Control adaptive suspension is available as an option
The Octavia vRS is as much about performance as it is about practicality, with a 600-litre boot for the hatchback and a 640-litre boot for the station wagon. Emergency drivers will also appreciate the convenience of the second-generation LED Matrix headlights, which now come as standard. These headlights contain new Crystallinium elements with 36 individual matrix segments that minimise glare to drivers of oncoming cars.

The updated Octavia is equipped with a range of advanced safety features including automatic emergency braking, predictive pedestrian protection, blind spot monitoring and cornering assist, which automatically applies the brakes if the driver fails to see oncoming traffic and risks a head-on collision.
Also available is a new Attention and Drowsiness Control system, which monitors driver behaviour and assesses the driver's level of drowsiness using a range of data such as steering wheel turns and lane control interventions.
Škoda UK offers a special vehicle adaptation programme for police, ambulance and fire services. Customised conversions are available through the company's approved partners. The Octavia vRS Estate has already passed MET braking safety tests and is fully approved for police use.
