Outperforms even BYD: Zeekr reveals 1.2MW charging station

Chinese premium electric vehicle manufacturer Zeekr has revealed a charging station with a peak capacity of 1.2 MW at the China Electric Vehicle 100 forum. The official presentation of the novelty will take place on 23 April at the Shanghai Motor Show, and the commercial launch in China is scheduled for the second quarter of this year.
Here's What We Know
The new Zeekr ultra-fast charging stations will have 10 ports, each of which will be able to deliver up to 1.2 MW. Obviously, the equipment will get very hot at this peak power, so the installation has received an advanced liquid cooling system.
Over the past three years, Zeekr has consistently increased the capacity of its charging stations: first 360kW, then 600kW and 800kW.
The company now operates a network of 826 charging stations in China. According to Zeekr Group Vice President Zhao Yuhui, the company will "lead the charging industry into the era of ultra-fast charging with more than 1MW." Zeekr plans to expand its network to 10,000 chargers by 2026.
Zeekr isn't the only one moving towards ultra-fast charging, however. Earlier this month, BYD unveiled its 1MW charger capable of adding 400 kilometres of range in 5 minutes.
The capabilities of the Chinese manufacturers' latest charging stations are impressive. For comparison, here are the peak power figures of other companies' systems:
- Tesla Supercharger V4: 500 kW
- Li Auto 5C: 520 kW
- NIO Power: 640 kW
- Xpeng S5: 800 kW
