Skoda Auto has revealed the first details of its tenth student car. It will be dedicated to the Czech carmaker's 130th anniversary and will be closely linked to cycling.

Here's What We Know

The end of the academic year at Skoda Auto's educational institutions in the Czech Republic is traditionally marked by the presentation of a new student car. This year, 28 students from Škoda Auto's Secondary Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering drew inspiration from the company's 130-year history to create the tenth anniversary student car.

At the moment, the bodywork and construction have been completed and the project is moving on to the painting stage. The name of the new addition to Skoda's student car range will be announced in the coming weeks.

In the teaser photos we see a "bare" body with traces of welding and machining of welds. Apparently, this is one of Skoda's production crossovers converted into a compact pick-up truck with a load-bearing structure.

When designing each student car, students aim to develop an interesting and innovative concept that brings something new to the Skoda range of vehicles. Once the initial sketches are completed, the vehicle moves on to the bodywork stage. Ensuring structural integrity while adhering to the design sketches requires ingenuity, creativity and practical experience. Throughout the process, students are supported by Skoda Auto experts from Technical Development, Design and other departments.

After many hours of work, the students have completed this phase of the project. The next stage begins with sending the car to the paint shop where it will receive its unique coating.

For reference, the ninth Škoda student car was based on the electric Škoda Enyaq, which was turned into an electric camper car with a mobile office. That project was called Roadiaq.
