After years of hints and anticipation, Riot Games has finally confirmed the imminent release of the mobile version of its popular shooter VALORANT by opening pre-registration in China. To conquer the mobile market, Riot has teamed up with LightSpeed Studios, the developers of PUBG Mobile, to bring its hit to a much larger audience.

Here's What We Know

Riot Games has officially announced that VALORANT Mobile will first appear in China, where the pre-registration period for the upcoming playtest will begin soon. "China has one of the largest and most competitive mobile first-person shooter communities in the world, and since LightSpeed is already a trusted developer in the region, it made sense for us to start here," said Anna Donlon, Head of VALORANT Studio at Riot Games.

Riot notes that it has worked extensively with LightSpeed during numerous playtests in China, attracting "some of the best mobile FPS players in the world." LightSpeed Studios, which is part of the same parent company Tencent that owns Riot Games, is the developer of PUBG Mobile, one of the most profitable and popular mobile games.

With the release of VALORANT on mobile platforms, the game will become one of the few first-person shooters available on PC, consoles and mobile devices. The mobile platform as a whole has the potential to become the most profitable, especially in regions such as China and Southeast Asia, where two of the world's most popular mobile games are mobile versions of well-known shooters: PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile.

The game will later be released for free on mobile devices worldwide.
