Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is getting closer to release. The PlayStation 5 exclusive offers players two modes - Quality with a focus on detail and Performance mode with a smooth 60 frames per second, so everyone can choose the optimal balance between beauty and performance.

Here's What We Know

Journalists who had the opportunity to play the preview version confirmed that Death Stranding 2 supports two game modes. Quality Mode provides steep visual quality but runs at 30 frames per second, while Performance Mode maintains a smooth 60 FPS, albeit with minor graphical compromises.

This testing was conducted on the base PS5, and PS5 Pro support has been confirmed, although details of the improvements on the Pro model have not yet been revealed.

The plot of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach takes place 11 months after the events of the first part. Players will once again take on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, who is now travelling from Mexico to Australia to help restore connections between people. The game offers an expanded open world, new movement mechanics, combat elements, and a deeper storyline with the return of familiar and new characters.

Special editions are also planned for release on 26 June 2025 - Digital Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition, which provide early access from 24 June and exclusive content. In addition, Sony is preparing a limited edition of DualSense controllers, decorated in the style of Death Stranding 2.
